UK viewers will be able to recognise the singer in the role of schoolgirl Lauren.
The Voice UK coach and Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special champion Anne-Marie is set to feature in Disney and Pixar‘s new movie Turning Red in a cameo role.
The singer will appear in the UK version of the movie playing Lauren, a schoolmate of the film’s lead character Mei (Rosalie Chiang).
Anne-Marie has revealed that taking on a guest role in the movie was a very special opportunity, saying: “I’m a massive fan of Pixar so it was an honour to be invited to have a role in Turning Red.

“It’s such a special film, I love the ’00s setting, it’s nostalgic and fun and I love the concept of Mei needing to figure out her journey about growing up in this weird world.”
The movie’s director, Bao‘s Domee Shi, was full of praise for Anne-Marie’s voice acting, saying: We are super excited to have Anne-Marie as a UK cameo in Turning Red.
“Anne-Marie really brought this role to life during our filming with a combo of quirky exuberance and humour that was note-perfect for her character, a red-panda superfan.”
Turning Red, which is set in Toronto between 2002 and 2003, focuses on a confident 13-year-old Chinese-Canadian girl named Mei, who finds herself torn between exploring the chaos of adolescence and remaining a dutiful daughter to her overprotective mother, Ming (Killing Eve star Sandra Oh).

While she struggles to balance the different aspects of her life, Mei has another, rather surprising, issue to contend with – whenever she gets very excited or stressed, which is often, she turns into a giant red panda.
The movie also stars Chimerica actor Orion Lee, Marvel star Wai Ching Ho, Ron’s Gone Wrong‘s Ava Morse, Never Have I Ever‘s Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and Hyein Park.
Original songs for the film have been written by sibling singer-songwriters Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell and will be performed by Pixar’s very first boy band, 4*Town.
It was confirmed last month that Turning Red will follow in the footsteps of fellow Pixar releases Soul and Luca and will skip a cinematic release to premiere exclusively on Disney+ on March 11.
