The Ancient Magus' Bride Anime Officially Announces Season 2 – CBR – Comic Book Resources

The second season of the popular romantic fantasy anime series The Ancient Magus’ Bride has been announced with a stunning new teaser trailer.
Season 2 of The Ancient Magus' Bride is officially in production and will debut in April 2023.
This news was announced on the anime's official website and reported by Crunchyroll. An official teaser for the upcoming season featured romantic moments between the main characters, Chise and Elias. Although WIT Studio produced the first season, Season 2 will be animated by Studio Kafka, which also produced the 2021 OAD (also referred to as OAV) episode The Ancient Magus' Bride: The Boy from the West and the Knight of the Blue Storm. In addition to Season 2, there are plans for a third OAD episode for release alongside Vol. 18 of The Ancient Magus' Bride manga in Japan.

While Norihiro Naganuma was in charge of Series Composition and Direction for Season 1, Kazuaki Terasawa will direct Season 2. Scriptwriter Aya Takaha is returning and will be co-writing the series with Yoko Yonaiyama and Chiaki Nishinaka. Kohei Tokuoka will serve as Chief Animation Director, while Hirotaka Kato will lead character designs. Junichi Matsumoto will be creating the music for the series.
Most of the main cast members are reprising their roles from Season 1. Atsumi Tanezaki, who also plays the role of Tome Kurata from Mob Psycho 100, will be reprising their role as Chise Hatori, the young female protagonist. Ryota Takeuchi will reprise their role as the demonic sorcerer Elias Ainsworth. Kōki Uchiyama will reprise the role of Chise's familiar Ruth, and Aya Endo will return to play Silky, the house fairy. Mutsumi Tamura and Satoshi Hino will also reprise the roles of Alice and Mikhail Renfred, respectively.

The Ancient Magus' Bride was originally a manga created by Kore Yamazaki and serialized in Mag Garden's Monthly Comic Blade from November 2013 to September 2014. After Mag Garden discontinued Monthly Comic Blade, serialization resumed in Monthly Comic Garden. The story revolves around a young woman named Chise Hatori, who grew up without knowing the love of her parents or relatives. She eventually ends up at a slave auction, where she gets sold to "a sorcerer of great power" named Elias Ainsworth. In an unexpected turn of events, the sorcerer decides to free her from the fate of a common slave. He instead declares that Chise will become both his apprentice and his bride.
Fans who want to play catch-up before the arrival of Season 2 can watch all of Season 1 on Crunchyroll. The manga is available in English from Seven Seas Entertainment.
