At Star Wars Celebration today, Lucasfilm and Disney officially announced Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi. The announcement was welcomed but hardly a surprise as the panel schedule for the weekend event had already revealed some details.
Tales of the Jedi is an animated anthology series comprised of various shorts set during the prequel era. The series will consist of six episodes. Three will follow the adventures of Ahsoka throughout her life, giving fans glimpses of her childhood days, her time spent with Anakin Skywalker during the Clone War era, and another facing an Inquisitor after Order 66. The other three episodes will focus on Count Dooku, following his life as a Jedi before he turned to the dark side.
Multiple fan-favorite prequel characters will appear in the series, including Qui-Gon Jinn, Anakin Skywalker, and Mace Windu. It was confirmed that Liam Neeson will be returning to voice Qui-Gon in Count Dooku's stories. A younger version of Qui-Gon Jinn will also be featured in the series and will be voiced by Neeson's son, Michael.
Star Wars veteran Dave Filoni is serving as writer and executive producer on the series, in case you needed another reason to get excited. Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi is slated to premiere on Disney+ this Fall.
