Last weekend, Emma Willis was back to front the latest series of , Olly Murs, Anne-Marie and Will.i.am were also back in their iconic red chairs to judge the latest set of talent. However, speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk and other press, the star-studded panel opened up about how tough it is when you can’t see who is singing.
Sir Tom admitted that there was one act, in particular, that he regretted not turning for.
“We don’t get any of the backstories,” the Sex Bomb hitmaker said when chatting about the singers.
“We don’t see anything until it comes on the television.
“There’s a girl on the first show, who was really good, I was almost there…[pressing the button].

“So, when you get that close, but especially when you see it on the TV just how good they are, and I am sure people would say, ‘What’s the matter with you? There must be something wrong’.
“We think, ‘Well who do I turn down? Who am I not going to press the button for?’ If it’s not like obvious that this person is right.”
The 82-year-old went on to admit that he may be relaxed sitting in his judge’s chair now, but it hasn’t always been that way.The VoiceThe VoiceTom recalled in the first series of The Voice, he accidentally turned for an act that “wasn’t his cup of tea”.
“I turned around and it was a girl with rings in her nose and tattoos and all over her arms,” he continued.
“I thought she was going to go with Jessie J, who was on at that time, and she only picked me, didn’t she?
“So, I am thinking, ‘I am stuck now with this girl’ and she was good but not somebody that I would really want to do something for.

Sir Tom admitted he didn’t want to be “lumbered” with someone who would be a better fit for another judge.
“I didn’t do it after that,” he added. “I said, ‘I am not doing it’.”
On Saturday, Sir Tom left Anne-Marie and viewers in tears after he sang a song as a tribute to his late wife, Linda.
The judge performed one of his latest songs called I Won’t Crumble With Your If You Fall, a track which referred to Linda’s battle with cancer.
“I try to pick songs that mean a lot to me,” Sir Tom explained. “And this song is trying to tell you… the people that you love sometimes need to be backed up and you need to give them strength.
“This is what this song means, ‘I’ll do anything for you, but I won’t crumble with you if you fall’.”
Recalling that moment, Anne-Marie told Express.co,uk and other press: “Tom sang one of his songs called Crumble for his wife.
“And I had to walk off, not because it was bad, [but] because it was so emotional.
“I think this is like a testament to him and why he has been able to stay around [for] so long because he feels every word he says and every song he releases he means it.”
The Voice returns on Saturday at 8pm on ITV.
